The Co-Worker by Freida McFadden

Co-worker by Freida McFadden

I have only good things to say about co-workers I used to have! They were fun and we operated like one soul! Our friendship has seen ups & downs, shifting of countries, extended silence but we know we can start all over again when we meet.
But, I possibly can't say good things about the co-workers in Freida's book!
Dawn Schiff and Natalie Farrell are colleagues, co-workers. Dawn tries her level best to be friendly to stylish & beautiful Natalie. Natalie on the other hand, does not believe in bending her rules of who she should be friendly to. Definitely, Dawn does not figure in her scheme of things. Her attitude, many times, can be called as berating, belittling and unacceptable. I would be mortified if someone behaved like that with me. And, I understand office politics all too well. So, when the boss is ignoring Dawn's multiple concerns over email or face to face correspondence and blindly approving the very soil under Natalie's feet, you know this is not going to end well.
Dawn is always punctual and everything in her life is orderly. Surely, you are convinced that she has some mental and emotional issues. You do feel bad when one day, Dawn suddenly disappears. You possibly guess why and who could be behind it, but ... something was not adding up. Co-working, co-existing is a tricky relationship. Very few relationships work seamlessly. But, when these very relationships go awry, you cannot predict how it is going to end.
Where did Dawn go? Had something terrible happened to Dawn? Is Natalie and her boss in hot soup, hand-in-glove in some conspiracy? Listen or read The Co-worker.
Personally, I could follow the story even though I had dozed off in between paragraphs and pages. I cannot call it great, but I have found a new term that is doing the round these days - I am being a booksnail.

Bookworms - you know who these people are! They just devour any book in sight.

Bookdragons - They are incorrigible hoarders of books. They want to read, but hoarding is their main hobby.

Then there's Booksnails - People like me - we do love books. We hoard too. And most importantly, we are slow readers. We read at our pace and if mood allows. We are unaffected by competition & don't judge books. We just nibble our way through our stack!

So, I am happy, I am reading and reading at my pace. One book at a time. This one is an okay read and will keep you sufficiently occupied. Have a good week ahead, everyone!
