The Angel by Katerina Diamond

I chanced upon this book one evening without realizing it was the 3rd of the DS Imogen Grey series. I did not come across any connect between the previous two books and this one, hence I can say that this book is good to be read or listened even as a standalone. Some reviews on GR suggest that you read the first two stories to allow the characters to grow on you and maybe some bits and pieces might have some connection, which may come to some culmination in this book. The book starts with a little bit of a flashback and stays hidden for the rest of the story. You will be left in the lurch till the very end as to why this introduction was important and how it was actually connected. But when it does, all of it will fall into place. A burned body is found inside a dilapidated signal box. The CCTV cameras pick up a young boy, Gabriel Webb, and his mates. His picture is quite clear and gets pulled up for questioning by DS Imogen Grey and her partner DS Adrian Miles. Gabriel was at th...

The Co-Worker by Freida McFadden

Co-worker by Freida McFadden I have only good things to say about co-workers I used to have! They were fun and we operated like one soul! Our friendship has seen ups & downs, shifting of countries, extended silence but we know we can start all over again when we meet. But, I possibly can't say good things about the co-workers in Freida's book! Dawn Schiff and Natalie Farrell are colleagues, co-workers. Dawn tries her level best to be friendly to stylish & beautiful Natalie. Natalie on the other hand, does not believe in bending her rules of who she should be friendly to. Definitely, Dawn does not figure in her scheme of things. Her attitude, many times, can be called as berating, belittling and unacceptable. I would be mortified if someone behaved like that with me. And, I understand office politics all too well. So, when the boss is ignoring Dawn's multiple concerns over email or face to face correspondence and blindly approving the very soil under Natalie's ...

Despite having Kindle devices to read from and multiple subscriptions to chose from, there is always an irresistible pull into a bookstore. My city, Bangalore, has one of the oldest bookshops called Blossoms. As my little man & I walked passed by the bookshop this afternoon, I was at once attracted to postcards being sold at the entrance. Why stop at postcards, when you can get much more! Few steps up and we were greeted by high rise piles of books. Sheer joy! After much browsing and constantly fighting the urge to buy a hard copy as against finding a digital copy, I bought myself the book in the picture - What To Do When Im Gone.  You may not believe me when I say, that I have thought about similar topics around the theme. What to do when I am gone. I know for sure, I do not want yearly rituals to remember me by. I believe, rituals become boring as the years pass and most often than not we find ways to avoid it. We are too scared of ostracization hence don't always spea...
